Chapel Hill Transit Seeks Public Input for Proposed Service Adjustments

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will hold a series of public input sessions on its proposed service adjustments for fiscal year 2011-12. The sessions will be held:

These sessions are designed to inform the public of the proposed service adjustments and to obtain public input that will be considered by CHT before the proposed adjustments are finalized.

Bike-to-Work Day a Success!

Chapel Hill- Carrboro’s Bike-to-Work Day celebration was a success, with more than 100 people attending the breakfast in the parking lot across from Armadillo Grill.  Cyclists enjoyed biscuits from Neal’s Deli, coffee from Open Eye Cafe, and other delicious treats.

The cyclists signed up for the Smart Commute Challenge by pledging to use alternative transportation at least once to get to work/school.

Mechanics from The Clean Machine and the ReCYCLEry pumped tires, lubed chains and tested brakes for the commuters.  Attendees were entered to win raffle prizes, including bike lights, T-shirts, coffee, Bulls tickets, Cycle9 gift cards, and Burt’s Bees products.

Community Bike Cruiser Ride

Join other cyclists for the Bike Chapel Hill-Carrboro 8 Mile Cruiser Ride. Meet at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Wallace Deck at 150 E. Rosemary St. for a ride through town, followed by food, drinks, free entertainment and decorating contests.

Two routes will be offered-a faster paced route for serious cyclists and a shorter, slower route for families and recreational cyclists. The event also includes live music, Gold Sprints and prize drawings. Dress extravagantly, and enjoy the evening!

Adjustment to the Umstead Drive Transit Detour

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will implement a minor adjustment to the current detour on the A and Saturday T routes beginning Saturday, May 14. The A and Saturday T routes will make a left turn from Severin Street onto Bradley Road, left on Williams Circle and a right on Barclay Road. All stops along Bradley Road will be closed during this detour.

Chapel Hill Transit Summer Break Schedule and Possible Schedule Delays

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will begin the summer break schedule and implement route and schedule changes on Saturday, May 7. For more information about the schedule changes, visit www.townofchapelhill.org/index.aspx?page=1564.

CHT is advising its riders to expect possible schedule delays beginning Monday, May 9, due to lane closures on Manning Drive near Paul Hardin Drive. CHT routes traveling along these streets may experience possible schedule delays during peak service hours.
