Chapel Hill Transit Routes Detoured for Holiday Parade
Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will implement several route detours on Saturday, Dec. 10, due to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday parade. The parade will begin on E. Franklin Street at the Morehead Planetarium, traveling west, and ending at Carrboro Town Hall on Main Street.
The following Saturday routes will be detoured/delayed as a result of the parade:
CW route from 9:45 a.m. until 11:44 a.m.
FG route from 8:50 a.m. until 11 a.m.
D route from 9:05 a.m. until 11:40 a.m.
JN route from 9:45 a.m. until 11:33 a.m.
T route from 8:15 a.m. until 11:40 a.m.
U route will begin at 11:20 a.m. at the Carolina Coffee Shop
The Saturday CM and NU routes will operate regular schedules.
Detour information is available online at chtransit.org and will be posted on buses Saturday, Dec. 3.
CHT will make every attempt to maintain schedules but is advising customers to expect delays and to allow extra travel time due to the parade. While CHT will attempt to operate normal printed schedules on all routes, delays may occur. Customers should plan to travel earlier than 10 a.m. and after noon to avoid parade traffic.

Estes Drive northbound travel and turn lanes near the intersection at Franklin Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, July 5-6. The lanes will be closed to allow for utility installation activities associated with Walgreens construction.

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) passengers should expect schedule delays on the F route from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, and Wednesday, July 6, due to lane closures on Estes Drive near Franklin Street. Passengers should allow extra travel times during these days and times.

One eastbound lane of Franklin Street will be closed near its intersection with Estes Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 27. The lanes will be closed to allow for roadway improvements associated with Walgreen’s construction.
