Triangle Transit Announces 2010 Service Changes

The Triangle Transit Board of Trustees approved the final recommendations for August 2010 service changes.  The changes will go into effect on August 16, 2010.  Be sure to visit Triangle Transit’s Frequently Asked Questions page where we’ve answered some of the most common questions about the service changes.

Triangle Transit has developed a plan for significant service changes intended to accomplish the following goals:

  • To improve service reliability and on-time performance,
  • To simplify route designs and the route naming/numbering system,
  • To improve transfer connections between Triangle Transit and DATA, and
  • To provide direct service to RDU airport from downtown Raleigh (affecting Routes 105 and 747).

The Triangle Transit service changes addressing these goals are described in the links below. These changes also affect the timing of transfers at the Regional Transit Center, therefore, creating schedule changes for Routes 201, 301, 311, and all RTP shuttles.

Service Changes Affecting Chapel Hill

Downtown Durham-Duke-Chapel Hill (15/501)
Affects the following routes: Triangle Transit 402, 403, 412, 413, 412S, 413S, 470

Triangle Transit will implement changes in the 15-501 corridor that will replace Routes 402, 403, 412, 413, 412S, 413S, and 470 with two new routes: one “Core Service” route between Durham Station and UNC Hospitals via South Square/New Hope Commons that will run Monday through Saturday, including weekday nights after 6:30 p.m., and one that will provide more direct weekday peak period service between Durham Station and UNC Hospitals. Midday, weekday night (after 6:30 p.m.) and Saturday frequencies will be provided every 60 minutes on the Core route. One of these routes will continue on as Triangle Transit’s new route serving Durham Station and RTP at Durham Station, providing a one-seat trip for those continuing to/from the Duke/VA Hospital area.
