New Parking Fee at the Chapel Hill Transit Park and Ride Lots

(Effective August 15, 2013)  On April 10, 2013, the Chapel Hill Town Council approved the implementation of a fee structure for park and ride lots managed and operated by Chapel Hill Transit (CHT). The fees will be effective at the following park and ride lots: Carrboro Plaza, Eubanks, Southern Village and Jones Ferry. The following fees will take effect on August 15, 2013:

  • Daily      rate: $2
  • Monthly      rate: $21
  • Annual      rate: $250

Monthly and annual permits for park and ride lots managed by CHT are available for purchase online: http://www.townofchapelhill.org/index.aspx?page=2221. If customers purchasing permits have questions, they should call CHT’s program manager Mila Vega at 919-969-4916 or email mvega@townofchapelhill.org.

Customers will also be able to utilize daily parking by paying a $2 fee at pay-stations located at each lot.  Information on the CHT park and ride program and permits is available at http://www.townofchapelhill.org/index.aspx?page=2222

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) will also be implementing fees for their park and ride permits, effective August 15, 2013.  UNC park and ride permits will be honored in Town lots.  Additional information on UNC park and ride permits is available at http://www.dps.unc.edu/Transit/gettingtowork/parkandride/parkandridefees.pdf.

CHT park and rides will remain first-come, first serve to allow users to choose the most proximate and available spots (due to varied work and class schedules, spots are not consistently occupied). Permits will be valid for all CHT lots to maintain optimal capacity.
